It’s not until you start travelling that you realise how much your body loves, craves and misses routine.

When I’m at home, I can be quite regimented with my eating and exercise, and thus, when I travel this is all tipped on its head and I often feel tired and bloated.

The one thing that I try and do every day for my body, no matter where I am in the world, is to start my day with warm water and fresh lemon juice.

Personally, the benefits of warm water and fresh lemon are as much psychological as they are physiological, as I feel as though if nothing else goes right that day with diet and exercise, I’ve at least made one healthy decision.

Starting your day with a healthy mind also sets the tone for the rest of the day… I find that if I go to town on the hotel buffet (which I do love to do occasionally when there is a waffle station) the rest of the day becomes a wright-off. Instead, try and get in that healthy frame-of-mind from the get-go and then saying ‘no’ to waffles for breakfast becomes easier 😉

Lemon water in the morning will help balance your body’s pH level, boost hydration, support the immune system and kick-starting your digestion.

When I’m at home, I love to add 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to the mix.

To make lemon water you will need:

1/2 Lemon, Juiced

1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar, organic

1 cup warm water

What to do:

Combine lemon juice, apple cider vinegar and water into a mug. Sip and enjoy.

Note: Don’t pour boiling water onto fresh lemon juice. It will kill the lemon’s nutrients and enzymes. Use warm water instead.
